Interior Minister meets Sweden Justice and Migration Minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of the Interior, Hussein Majali and Sweden Minister of Justice and Migration, Morgan Johansson, on Wednesday, discussed latest developments in the Middle East and bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in security, political and economic fields.

The meeting also tackled ways to counter the fallout of a massive influx of Syrian refugees in Jordan, in addition to fighting extremism, terrorism and all forms of crimes.

Majali said countering extremism and terrorism requires concerted and intensified global efforts in order to eliminate this scourge. He added that Jordan has taken measures to achieve this goal, most notably developing a special anti-extremism strategy, which is currently being implemented at community institutions and correctional facilities in the Kingdom.

With regard to the Syrian refugees crisis, the interior minister said Jordan cannot handle this massive burden without help from the international community and concerned international organizations.

The Swedish minister expressed his country's appreciation of Jordan's pivotal role in addressing the region's problems. Also, he stressed his country's support to the Kingdom to deal with the refugees crisis.
