Samsung introduces USD14.4b new chip line

(MENAFN) South Korea's electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co. introduced a new chip-production line, aiming to expand its presence in the semiconductor sector, Yonhap News reported.

The USd14.4 billion chip line in Pyeongtaek is SET to be ready to start production in the first half of 2017. It marks Samsung's largest-ever investment in a single production line.

Samsung estimates the new plant will likely generate some 150,000 jobs and induce USD37.89 billion in production. The enormous investment plan was announced in October 2014.

"Samsung Electronics is a leading South Korean firm that went through the Miracle on the Han River," President said, referring to the country's rapid economic development since the 1960s.
