Tourism and petchem stocks in the limelight in Saudi


(MENAFN- Arab News) The benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) dug in at 9781.69 and ended its Wednesday's trading up over 30 points or 0.31 percent.
On year-to-date basis the TASI's yield reached 17.38 percent.
Large cap remained prominent among market cap indices the GulfBase said in its market commentary.
Most of the major sectors closed in the green territory accumulating an aggregate of 477 points.
Tourism and Petrochemical Industries showed the best performance among sectoral indices gaining 0.69 percent and 0.57 percent respectively.
On the other hand Media and Publishing sector suffered worst going down by 0.58 percent.
The market breadth was positive with 74 stocks witnessing advances and 59 others marking a decline.
New player Middle East Paper Co. (MEPCO) again made the biggest jump among all Saudi equities achieving a daily growth of 9.77 percent to SR 43.8.
AXA Insurance followed it closing higher by 5.46 percent. The company volume was two times high over its 50-day average.
Share price of Takween Advanced Industries raced to a fresh all-time high of SR75.75 up 2.11 percent for the day.
Almarai Company came out as key gainer among heavyweight equities rising more than one percent to SR90.74.
Dar Alarkan with trades over 56 million shares topped the volume chart capturing 18.9 percent market volume.
Tadawul total volume set sold approximately 297 million shares a decrease of 14.3 percent over the previous day.
Liquidity also reduced by 18.3 percent to reach a total of SR7.5 billion.
The bellwether SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) with a turnover SR786.3 million topped the value chart closing green at SR107.5.
