Kuwait- Social Affairs Minister Dissolves Board Of KTS

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Planning and Development Hind Al-Sabeeh said Wednesday that it has dissolved board of directors of Kuwait Transparency Society due to several reason, most notably the "abuse by society to the National Assembly and its members." The minister went on and said other reasons for the sacking included violations of the goals intended for the society, and violation to Article 6 of law No. 24 of 1962.

In a statement, Al-Sabeeh said that the ministry has decided to dissolve the society's board of directors and the appointment of an interim board to manage the society, adding that the law states that the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor has the right to appoint a new board.

The ministry began investigations on the issue with chairman of the society and some board members, including previously resigned members, particularly after slurs made through a press conference and Twitter against National Assembly members. The minister noted that she found that the society's board was "out of line" and had drifted away from goals intended for the society.
