(MENAFN) Colombian airline Avianca confirmed its order for 100 A320neo planes, in a deal worth around USD10 billion and is considered the largest ever by a Latin American carrier, The Peninsula Qatar reported.
The largest single order ever made in Latin America's aviation history will allow Avianca to maintain one of the youngest fleets in the region as the airline aims to replace its currently operating airplanes.
The order includes A319neo, A3320neo and A321neo jets, different versions of the remotorized single-aisle medium-range planes that Airbus is to start delivering in 2016, with 15 percent fuel savings.
"This historic order allows us to solidify our passenger experience strategy in local markets on a broader scale," Avianca Holding's chief executive was quoted as saying in the statement.
