US offers USD7 mlns rewards for info on four 'key' ISIL leaders

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US State Department offered rewards in USD millions on Tuesday for information on four "key" ISIL leaders, the department announced in a statement.

"The Secretary of State has authorized rewards of up to USD seven million for information on 'Abd Al-Rahman Mustafa Al-Qaduli; up to USD five million each for information on Abu Mohammad Al-Adnani and Tarkhan Tayumurazovich Batirashvili; and up to USD three million for information on Tariq Bin-Al-Tahar Bin Al Falih Al-'Awni al-Harzi," said the statement.

Al-Qaduli is a senior ISIL official who joined the group after his release from prison in 2012. Before his incarceration, he had originally joined Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) in 2004 to serve as AQI leader Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi's deputy and as AQI amir of Mosul, Iraq.

Al-Adnani, whose birth name is Taha Sobhi, is a senior leader and official spokesperson for ISIL. "He is the main conduit for the dissemination of ISIL message, including its declaration of ISIL's creation of an Islamic caliphate," the State Department affirmed.

Batirashvili is a senior ISIL commander and Shura Council Member. He has overseen an ISIL prison facility in Al-Taqba where the State Department believes ISIL could have held foreign hostages. He has also worked with ISIL's financial section and managed operation in Syria.

Al-Harzi, is noted as one of the first to join ISIL and is an ISIL official operating from Syria. He has helped to raise funds, recruit, and facilitate travel of ISIL fighters. In 2013, he was the leader for the border between Syria and Turkey. In late 2013, he was chief of ISIL's suicide bombers, and oversaw ISIL's "suicide bomber facilitation pipeline," the statement affirmed.

The rewards are issued by the State Department's Rewards for Justice program that has paid in excess of USD 125 million to over 80 people since 1984 for information on terrorists.
