Egypt to welcome 20 percent rise in tourism 2015

(MENAFN) Egypt is ready to welcome an increase of 20 percent tourists in 2015 due to a revival in the sector following the four years of political turmoil and protestations, Reuters reported.

In the first quarter alone, almost 2.15 million tourists visited the Country of the Pharaohs, which marked an increase by 6.9 percent year-on-year, the Minister of Tourism said.

"In the next four-and-a-half years we have to increase by double-digit (percentages) every year. We would like to reach USD26 billion by 2020. By 2016 we will maybe surpass the levels of 2010," he stated.
