Kuwait- PM 'Favours' Putting Jaber Hospital Under The Admin Of Global Hospitals

(MENAFN- Arab Times) HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah supports the proposal to put Jaber Hospital under the administration of a number of global hospitals, reports Al-Nahar daily quoting MP Ahmad Al-Qadibi.

Al-Qadibi disclosed he met the prime minister earlier, during which the latter welcomed the idea of putting Jaber Hospital under the management of international hospitals to better serve the public. He added the premier has instructed Minister of Health Dr Ali Al- Obeidi to form a team to study the proposal and method of implementation, Meanwhile, sources revealed Al- Obeidi has started contacting international hospitals and universities for this purpose but a number of them have declined due to the enormous responsibility as Jaber Hospital is considered the biggest in the Middle East and the Gulf regions.

Commenting on this, Al-Qadibi said he presented a second proposal to divide the hospital into sections and each will be managed by a global hospital, while an advisory board will be established to combine all global hospitals in charge of the administration of different sections. He added the board will lay down a mechanism and policy for administration to prevent conflicts or disagreements on the management of Jaber Hospital.

Meanwhile, a recent report on the health sector performance in Kuwait from 2003-2013 released by the National Center for Health Information revealed that the mortality rate of mothers, infants and children below five years are relatively low while the lifespan of Kuwaitis and expatriates is longer, reports Al-Rai daily. He said the percentage of nurses also increased from 4 to 6.5 nurses for every 1,000 people while the share of every individual from healthcare expenses rose from $1,061 in 2003 to $1,501 in 2012.

He added results of an opinion poll conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2013 showed that 59.1 percent of Kuwaiti respondents are very satisfied with the healthcare services, compared to 72.3 percent of expatriates. He pointed out this is a very high percentage and bodes well on the health sector
