Qatar's Cabinet holds weekly meeting


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Kuwaiti cabinet late Monday was notified about the delegation accompanying His Highness the Amir to the 15th Consultative Meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders to be held in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Tuesday.

The delegation includes First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier and Defense Minister Lieutenant General (ret.) Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah and Finance Minister and Acting Commerce and Industry Minister Anas Al-Saleh, as well as senior state officials.

Holding a weekly routine meeting at Sief Palace, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the cabinet commended fervent efforts exerted by GCC leaders to fulfill their respective peoples' aspirations so as to achieve safety, security and prosperity in the region.

The cabinet was notified of a letter sent to His Highness the Amir from King Abdullah II of Jordan, which included an official invitation to His Highness the Amir to attend World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa 2015, to be held next May.

It was also notified with the letter sent by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to His Highness the Amir, lauding His Highness's, as well as Kuwait's role in hosting the third donors' conference for Syria. It also reviewed a similar letter on the same subject from Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

Then the meeting was briefed by His Highness the Premier on outcomes of the recent visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Edrogan to the country, as well as outcomes of recent visits by Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key and Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta to Kuwait.

Meanwhile, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled briefed the cabinet on the outcome of the meeting of the GCC Foreign Ministers in prelude to the 15th Consultative Meeting of GCC leaders to be held in the Saudi capital Riyadh tomorrow.

In addition, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled briefed the cabinet on the outcome of the recent visit by Libyan Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mohammad Al Hadi Dayri to the country, during which Kuwait has underlined its unwavering and supportive stance in reinstating stability and safety in Libya.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled briefed the cabinet on outcomes of the visit to the country by Deputy Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan and Director for the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature) Kenya Akiba.

On his part, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah informed the ministers about the outcome of the GCC Interior Ministers meeting recently held in Doha, which mainly discussed reports on what has been carried out by member states to combat terrorism.

The cabinet then endorsed draft decrees appointing Mohammad Abdulkareem Yusuf Al-Sharhan as assistant undersecretary in the ministry of electricity and water and Sheikha Hamdan Al-Adwani as assistant undersecretary in the ministry of social affairs and labor. It also endorsed the appointment of General Fahad Ibrahim Al-Dousari as director of investigation at the interior ministry.
