US stocks open higher


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) US stocks opened higher Monday riding a global wave of market gains helped by more indications of economic life in Europe.

Five minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 35.43 points (0.19 percent) at 18,058.59.

The broad-based S&P 500 rose 8.20 (0.39 percent) to 2,116.49, while the tech-rich Nasdaq gained 20.78 points (0.41 percent) at 5,026.12.

Markit Economics's closely watched Purchasing Managers Index for the eurozone showed manufacturing continued to expand in April.
