Thai exhibit opens in Amman

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The Senate's Jordanian -Thai Friendship Committee, chaired by Senator Adel Twaisi, officiated at the Sunday opening of the Thai Products Exhibition at the Grand Hyatt Amman hotel.

The Senator said that Jordanian -Thai relations have grown noticeably under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, noting that the exhibition, which was held in cooperation with the Thai embassy in Amman and Commercial Office of Thailand in Jeddah, represents a new approach in relations between the two friendly countries.

Further, Jordanian-Thai Friendship Association President Maher Shakhatreh said the exhibit aims to increase the volume of trade between the two countries and called upon relevant bodies in both countries to sign a Free Trade Agreement to facilitate trade exchange.

He added that companies participating in the exhibition represent the clothing, food industries, cosmetics and construction materials sectors.

He also noted that trade between Jordan and Thailand remains low, as Jordan's exports to the Asian nation stood at $28 million, while imports amounted to $225 million.

The Thai delegation praised the close ties between both countries, and expressed hope for increasing commercial activities, while noting that 22 companies, which are among the most important industrial enterprises operating in Thailand, are taking part in the Amman exhibit.
