Iraqi Premier Receives Call from US Vice-President

(MENAFN- QNA) Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi today received a telephone call from the US Vice-President Joe Biden.

During the contact, they discussed the overall political and security situation and the developments of the current events in Iraq, particularly with regard to mutual commitment to preserve the territorial unity and sovereignty of Iraq and non-interference in the internal affairs.

Al-Abadi confirmed Iraq's refusal of the proposed laws and projects that weaken the unity of the country, infringe on national sovereignty and harm social fabric.

For his part, Biden renewed the US commitment to the convention on the strategic framework for the protection of the unity of Iraq, as stated in the Iraqi constitution, stressing that in the light of this commitment, the US military aid to Iraq to fight the Daesh will be at the request of the Iraqi government and that all armed groups should be subject to the control of the Iraqi state.
