Iraq voices concern over US Congress bill


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi received a telephone call from United States Vice President Joe Biden, in which al-Abadi discussed his concerns over a bill before the US Congress, Iraqi PM's office said.

A White House statement reported that Biden spoke with al-Abadi on Saturday night regarding the latest situation in Iraq and the fight against the Daesh terrorist group.

During their conversation, the Vice President reaffirmed the US commitment under the Strategic Framework Agreement to a united, federal, and democratic Iraq, as defined in the Iraqi constitution.

Further, the two officials emphasized their commitment to working together to defeat Daesh and help Iraqi forces protect Iraq's sovereignty and independence.
