A new and groundbreaking mobile app called Droppie has been launched recently. The app allows users to create collections of photos taken in specific locations. The app is free for anyone to use and so connect with others. The beta version of the app was first launched approximately 10 days ago and now the developers have come up with a new Droppie 2.0 real version which has moved the app to a whole new level.
Speaking to the media Marek Sandor CEO and co-founder of the app said “Droppie changes the rules and conventions of social media communication. You walk the streets and pick up on the photos others have taken in the same locale as you go. The app doesn’t even have to be running to do this and you don’t have to know the people whose ‘dropped’ photos you’ve picked up. Yes that’s the unique thing about Droppie – the moment of surprise. Everyone who’s heard about our concept has been fascinated. We believe our idea has a bright future and the first Droppie users prove it. They’ve fallen in love with the app.”
Droppie allows a user to take pictures at a specific location such as a bar school cafe or restaurant and ‘drop’ it into the app. Within the first week of beta testing more than 20 000 downloads and 120 000 pictures were dropped using the app. The Droppie start-up has raised $285 000 already and added a brand angle to the way content is shared on social media.
People love sharing pictures on social media and Droppie is created around the same concept. The app binds photo communication with geo location that is accessible to everyone using it. The app is like a game that one can play while travelling. Droppie allows free access however it never exposes its users to unwanted ‘droppers’. The app allows only five people to pick up the dropped photos before they disappear.
Speaking about the app Martin Herman co-founder and CTO of the start-up said “The US market is currently our top priority. We are dedicating all of our focus energy and effort to penetrate it and gain a critical mass of users in each major city. There are a lot of amazing investors who have placed their hopes and resources into our project already but we’re aiming even higher. Every new day is a challenge. Right now the thought of failure is not on our minds – we simply don’t have time to think about it.”
