UAE Ambassador to Canada meets SAIF Zone delegation


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, SAIF Zone, has participated in Canada's SIAL 2015, which concluded on 30th April in Toronto.

The three-day food and packaging material exhibition attracted more than 800 national and international agri-food exhibitors from 46 countries. The show attracted a huge trade crowd and over 12,000 buyers attended the meeting which was a focal meeting point of the agri-food-world.

Mohammed Saif Helal Al Shehhi, UAE Ambassador to Canada, visited the SAIF Zone booth and discussed various options of FDI with Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, HFZA, and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, SAIF ZONE. He also participated in the investment seminar which was organised by SAIF Zone.

"The Middle East market is rapidly expanding and we want to invite more multinationals in the F&B sector to the SAIF Zone," said Al Mazrouei, while addressing a seminar on investment that was held in connection with SIAL 2015 exhibition.

"More than 90 percent of the GCC countries' food requirements are met through imports, and SAIF Zone is the best trade and logistic hub for the traders, because of its position and facilities," Al Mazrouei said during his presentation on investment opportunities in the SAIF Zone.

"SIAL 2015 provided an engaging platform which aided us in learning about the new developments in the global agriculture and food industry. The event helped us to portray SAIF Zone and its advantages to the global market," Al Mazrouei commented after the exhibition.

According to statistics, the UAE's food consumption between now and 2018 is expected to further increase by an annual growth rate of more than 6.9 percent.

" SIAL is an important meeting point when it comes to the agri-food industry and we met food experts, entrepreneurs and investors from around the globe who are interested to know about SAIF Zone.
