Abu Dhabi to start the construction of USD1.5b Al Maryah project


(MENAFN) The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) gave its approval for the starting of the construction work over the USD1.5 billion mixed-use project dubbed Al Maryah Central, Arabian Business reported.

Al Maryah Central is being built by Gulf Related, the joint venture forged in 2009 between the Gulf Capital and Related Companies. The company will undertake phase 1, in which it will build a 2.3 million square foot shopping Centre by 2018.

The shopping center will have 400 stores, 90 food and beverage outlets, a 20-screen cinema, a medical center, a cr"che, health club, a public library, and food market.

"This development will create an urban retail, leisure and entertainment destination on Al Maryah Island that will serve the rapidly growing customer base," the president of Related Urban and co-managing partner of Gulf Related said.
