New appointment at Hamad bin Khalifa University


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has appointed Dr Ahmad M Hasnah as president of Hamad bin Khalifa University.

With a distinguished career in higher education, Dr Hasnah joined QF in 2002 where he has been a key player in the development of Education City into a unique hub for creating, sharing and finding practical uses of knowledge through partnerships with world-class educational and research institutions.

In his roles as the director of academic affairs in the Education Division and later as the associate vice president for Higher Education, Dr Hasnah has actively contributed to the negotiations which led to the establishment of several QF partner universities, namely Texas A&M University at Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, UCL Qatar and HEC Paris in Qatar. In 2014, he was appointed as the executive vice president and provost of Hamad bin Khalifa University.

Dr Hasnah represents QF in many joint advisories including the boards of Texas A&M University at Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, and in the steering committee of Qatar National Research Fund. He also took part in the conception and shaping of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), which aims to explore groundbreaking innovations and takes concrete steps to make significant improvements to worldwide education. Dr Hasnah holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, USA. He completed Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from University of Qatar in 1990.
