Qatar- Education conference to begin today


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The first Conference on Education 2015, being organised by the Supreme Education Council (SEC) in coordination with the Faculty of Education at Qatar University, under the theme "Partners in Excellence", will start today at Qatar National Convention Centre.

Bahrain's Minister of Education, Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, and his delegation arrived in Doha yesterday to attend the conference, which is being held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, who is also the chairman of SEC.

Al Nuaimi was greeted on arrival by the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General of the SEC, H E Dr Mohammad bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi and a number of Senior SEC Officials.

Dr Ali bin Abdul Khaliq Al Qarni, Director-General of Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, has also arrived in Doha to attend the conference. The other participating delegations are expected to arrive later.

More than 200 private and Independent schools, along with 300 high-level Gulf, Arab and international educational and academic delegations, will take part in the conference.

The four-day conference will discuss a number of topics such as the axis of educational reform, educational leadership, between theory and practice, leadership and policies of education, learning, policy and education issues, in addition to development of education , research, evaluation and curricula.

Senior Gulf educators and academics from the field of education will attend the opening session of the conference along with representatives of international and regional organisations working in the areas of research and education, principals of Independent and Arab private schools, teachers, students, parents and representatives of the media.

The 7th annual Student Research and Creative Activity Fair will be held during the conference with participation from 64 Independent and private schools, which will present research in the fields of science and literature.
