Prudential confirms Wells as new chief executive

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors) Insurance giant Prudential (LON:PRU) has named Mike Wells as its new chief executive.

Wells who runs the insurer’s US arm Jackson National Life will replace the highly-regarded Tidjane Thiam who is jumping ship to Credit Suisse.

"We have found a fitting and experienced successor to Tidjane in Mike Wells who has extensive experience of life insurance and asset management” said Paul Manduca Prudential’s chairman.

Wells who has three-decades of experience in the US insurance industry will relocate to London to take up the position from June.

Thiam Pru’s chief executive since 2009 said he was moving to head Credit Suisse back in March to replace the bank’s current boss Brady Dougan.

At the time Prudential said its board had identified a successor - widely rumoured to be Wells - from a range of internal and external candidates.
