Senator Sanders announces 2016 candidacy for US president
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Junior Independent United States Senator Bernie Sanders announced his candidacy for the 2016 presidential race on Wednesday in interviews made with USA Today newspaper and the Associated Press (AP).
Sanders who will officially join the race on Thursday is a left leaning independent who caucuses with the Democratic party and describes himself as a "democratic socialist". He has previously served as a House representative and mayor of the largest city in Vermont, Burlington.
"People should not underestimate me," Sanders said to AP.
