Tunisian FM meets US Ambassador to Libya


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs Taieb Baccouche met on Thursday with United States Ambassador in Libya Deborah Jones the ambassador.

The meeting, based on a request from Jones who resides in Malta at present due to the turmoil in Libya, discussed the latest developments in Libya, Tunisian Press Agency (TAP) reported, citing sources of the Foreign Ministry.

Both sides stressed the need to combine efforts to allow the different Libyan sides to continue negotiations, ensure the success of the dialogue sessions between Libyan stakeholders and overcome some obstacles that may prevent reaching a solution enabling the Libyan people to live in security, peace and stability, while sparing neighbor countries and the region terrorist threats, said a Foreign Ministry press release.

The two sides pointed to the two countries' similar views on ways to resolve the crisis in Libya which requires a political will of the Libyan sides to end violence and initiate negotiations for a consensual political solution to the crisis. (end) nm.mb
