(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Secretary of State John Kerry and Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Bert Koenders reaffirmed on Thursday "the incredible positive working relationship" between their two countries.
"We're grateful for the Netherlands participation and leadership in the anti-ISIL efforts, as well as their humanitarian concerns and considerations not just for dealing with Ebola, where they were front and center, but also dealing with the refugee crisis that comes from the Middle East today, and particularly Syria," Kerry said.
He made the comments at a joint press conference with Koenders ahead of their meeting here.
"We are also sharing concerns about Yemen and the need to try to contain the struggle there so that it doesn't have a greater impact on the region, but also get to a political resolution," Kerry noted.
"And finally, let me say how much we respect the leadership of the Netherlands on the issue of the Malaysian Airlines MH17," he added.
For his part, Koenders said: "For us, the United States is an invaluable ally in the region - And I think the transatlantic relationships are more important than ever to work together to reduce and to de-escalate the conflicts that we have in our region." (end) ak.gb
