Zee political game: Nigam faces the music over a tweet
(MENAFN- Arab News) MUMBAI: Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam's tweet in support of AAP leader Kumar Vishwas has earned him the wrath of a prominent media house.
Nigam recently had tweeted out a video of Vishwas addressing the farmers' rally in New Delhi last week which witnessed the suicide of Gajendra Singh a farmer from Rajasthan. The reported media channel Zee News had later shown a footage where moments after the incident Vishwas was seen saying off the mic 'latak gaya?'.
Nigam on his part tweeted out a video which gave another perspective to the issue which gives the poet turned politician a clean chit.
After Nigam's tweet the channel which is also involved in film production has decided to ban the singer from all its future projects. The singer even tweeted about it and soon his followers started tweeting in support of the singer.
The singer further added 'Wonder should it not be illegal to ban someone on the pretext of nothing in a democracy? Influencing others to not work with an individual. Well legal or illegal one thing's for sure. Banning someone is definitely unGodly.'
Amid numerous tweets speaking out in solidarity with the singer Nigam thanked his followers for their support.
An April 28 tweet from trade analyst Komal Nahta too seconded Nigam's claims stating that he had 'heard Zee Music Co. will not buy music with Sonu Nigam's songs'. The reasons for the same were unknown tweeted Nahta.
The hashtag #IStandWithSonuNigam was the top trend on Twitter India on Wednesday and had generated about 30600 tweets. Many fans of the singer had come out in support of the singer on the social networking site.
