KSA wants Kuwaiti MP prosecuted
(MENAFN- Arab News) The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Kuwait has demanded the prosecution of Kuwaiti parliamentarian Abdul Hamid Dashti for making irresponsible statements against the Kingdom.
In a memorandum submitted to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs the embassy has called for an inquiry against Dashti for his attempts to insult Saudi Arabia through media channels affiliated with Iran.
Dashti should be referred to the Public Prosecution in order to be put on trial it said. Dashti is accused of repeatedly attacking Saudi policies last week on the Manar TV channel which is owned by the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
Dashti has allegedly criticized the manner in which the Kingdom has dealt with the Yemen crisis claiming that Operation Decisive Storm was doomed to 'destroy all of the Gulf states.'
Dashti has also reportedly passed insulting remarks against Saudi Arabia in Parliament saying: 'The fear being felt in Kuwait is not because of what is happening with Iran or Iraq; no it is from Saudi Arabia.'
He further claimed that the Kingdom is supporting terrorism yet did not offer any evidence to prove his allegation.
Dashti who is also a known Kuwaiti activist has continuously published photos of him with members of the Syrian leadership on his Twitter account. This comes after his visit to Syria last year to congratulate President Bashar Assad on his election victory.
