Kuwait gains foothold in Asian Badminton Confederation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait Badminton Federation's Secretary General Ali Al-Marri on Tuesday expressed delight about his recent wining of senior post at the Asian Badminton Confederation.

Al-Marri was unanimously elected a Vice-President of the Asian Badminton Confederation for a four-year term in the elections held in China Saturday.

"The wining of such a top post shows Kuwait's outstanding status at the Asian sports stage," Al-Marri told KUNA.

He vowed to do all in power to increase the efficiency of the confederation and promote and develop the growingly-popular game in the Asian continent.

This is the first time an Arabian Gulf citizen wins a leading post at the Asian Badminton Confederation, he said, adding that an Indonesian has won the top post at the confederation.

Moreover, Lebanese candidate Jassem Qansowah was elected as a treasurer to the organization.
