NUSSLI delivers Kuwait's picturesque pavilion at Expo Milano 2015

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Switzerland-based leading international turnkey supplier (NUSSLI) has handed over Kuwait's breath-taking pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 .

NUSSLI Managing Director Dietmar Kautschitz carried out the initial handover of the pavilion to the Director of Kuwaiti pavilion Abdulrahman Al-Nasser and the State of Kuwait general commissioner at the Expo and the Ministry of Information's Assistant Undersecretary for External Information Faisal Al-Mutallaqem.

After touring the 2,800-meter pavilion, Al-Mutallaqem lauded the outstanding work of the NUSSLI teams which created such an impressive structure.

He also thanked the Italian architect Italo Rota for designing such an eye-catching master piece.

For his part, Kautschitz hailed Kuwait's participation in the international event and the trust Kuwaiti officials put in his company to build its pavilion in the Expo.

He also expressed appreciation for Kuwaiti officials for their great cooperation with the company teams to help abide by the international standards in construction and to complete the project on time.

The Kuwaiti Pavilion, "Challenge of Nature," shows how the Kuwaitis made the desert inhabitable, and continue to do so, using education, technology, science and renewable energy to establish a modern, vibrant and growing community which can contribute to global development and to feeding the world.

The aim of the Kuwaiti Pavilion at the Expo Milano is to present the extraordinary mix of culture and tradition as well as the contemporary and scientific aspects which form the foundation of Kuwaiti culture.

The basic design of the Pavilion resembles the sails of a dhow, a traditional wooden boat which is still in use today in the Arabian Gulf. With its design, the Kuwaiti Pavilion references one of the greatest challenges Kuwait faces due to its geographical location, its climate, and its vegetation - water. The second part of the Pavilion, toward the back, consists of a greenhouse in which numerous hydroponically cultivated plants which serve as shade can be discovered.

The Expo Milano will be inaugurated by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi on Friday, May 1, with the participation of large world dignitaries including Kuwait's Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Salman Humoud Al-Sabah who will represent His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The Expo is a major international exhibition that has been held every five years since the 19th century. Covering 272 Acres, the event expects an estimated 29 million visitors from May 1st-October 31 2015. More than 140 participating countries will showcase the best of their technology, which will offer answers to questions revolving around health, safety and better food nourishment.
