US adds three individuals to terror list for involvement with Hezbollah


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US State Department designated Meliad Farah, Hassan El-Hajj Hassan, and Hussein Atris as Global Teorrorists for their connections with Hezbollah, a statement announced on Tuesday.

Farah and Hassan are believed to be located in Lebanon and are suspected to be behind a bombing at the airport in Burgas, Bulgaria that killed six people including five Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian citizen, the State Department affirmed.

Atris is a member of Hezbollah's overseas terrorism unit and was arrested in Thailand in connection with a terror warning about a possible attack Bangkok. Atris was found to be hiding nearly three tons of ammonium nitrate, an element in the manufacture of explosives.

Atris was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison by a Thai court. He is also believed to be in Lebanon, the statement noted.

The consequence of these designation implicate that these individuals' property in the US is now frozen, nor can they come to the US or conduct any transactions with the US.
