GCC chief briefs Bahraini King on upcoming consultative summit


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani briefed Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Tuesday on ongoing preparations for the 15th consultative GCC summit which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next month.

Al-Zayani, on a regional tour ahead of the GCC consultative summit, also briefed King Hamad on the main GCC achievements and implementation of decisions by various ministerial committees, the Royal Court said in a statement, cited by official BNA news agency.

King Hamad underlined the importance of the consultative meeting which reflected keenness of GCC leaders to follow up on GCC achievements and build on them.

King Hamad said the summit would be an opportunity to exchange views on regional and Arab developments.

The King lauded the efforts of the GCC Secretary General, his assistants and all the staff of the GCC Secretariat General in promoting the GCC march and bringing about further achievements.

The GCC Secretary General said after the meeting that the consultative summit would convene amid very sensitive circumstances which require more GCC coordination to face challenges.

Al-Zayani was in Kuwait earlier today and met with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to brief him on the consultative summit. (end)
