Syrian army kills dozens of militants in several hotspots

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Syrian government forces eliminated dozens of "terrorists" in several hotspots in the country, the official SANA news agency reported Tuesday.

Government troops ambushed a rebel group near the town of Buraq, some 2 km from the Swaida city, eliminating and arresting a large number of them and confiscating their weapons, said SANA.

Separately, the air force carried out strikes on positions of Islamic State (IS) militants, killing dozens of them near al-Shaer gas field in the countryside of Homs.

In the central province of Hama, army units killed a large number of armed militants and destroyed their weaponry in the northern countryside of Hama, SANA said.

The reported fresh military achievement came after recent losses that Syrian army suffered in the northwestern province of Idlib, where large swathes of territory fell to the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front.
