Dutch embassy celebrates National Day


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Dutch embassy held a special National Day celebration on Monday to mark milestones. The event was attended by the Minister of Public Health HE Abdullah bin Khalid al-Qahtani, Dutch ambassador Yvette Burghgraef - van Eechoud and several other officials and dignitaries. April 27 is the birthday of Dutch King Willem-Alexander, who ascended the throne in 2013. Also, it was 200 years ago that the Netherlands became a sovereign kingdom after the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte.

A number of celebrations are taking place in the Netherlands to mark the occasion. The year 2015 also marks the 125th death anniversary of famous Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh.

The painter and his works are being widely celebrated this year through events across the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

During the National Day celebration, the Dutch embassy treated the Qatari business, government and diplomatic

community to a musical and visual performance, children's poems and a floral tribute to Van Gogh.
