Kazakh president to take oath on April 29: Envoy


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Kazakh Ambassador to Jordan, Azamat Berdibay, said Tuesday that the Central Election Commission has announced that President Nursultan Nazarbayev will take the oath again after his re-election as president on April 29, 2015.

During a press conference to announce the election results, the ambassador said the Kazakhstan is committed to the principles of openness and transparency, integrity and competitiveness in the electoral process.

Early presidential elections were announced on April 26 to avoid an overlap of presidential and parliamentary elections, both of which are scheduled for 2016.

President Nazarbayev, 74, won 97.7 percent of the vote in a turnout that reached 22.95 percent, according to the Central Election Commission.

Berdibay said that on polling day, the Kazakh embassy in Jordan opened a polling station to enable Kazakhs residing in Jordan to exercise their democratic and constitutional right.
