National seminar on tax deduction at source in India


(MENAFN- KNN India) In order to deliberate key issues on the various intricate provisions and new developments relating to tax deduction at source (TDS), a national seminar will be held in Hyderabad.

The national event is being organised by ASSOCHAM with the support of Ministry of Finance on April 29.

Over the years TDS has emerged as a major tool of revenue collection in India. However, the way the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (the Act) dealing with the TDS are worded, taxpayers have to deal with several interpretational and procedural issues.

The seminar will discuss the topic on TDS provisions related to non-residents such as royalty and fees for technical services - recent trends (case studies, key recent judicial precedents); net of tax arrangements; implications of TDS on reimbursements to pass through entities and application of 206AA in case of NR with DTAA benefit or no DTAA benefit.

It will also cover the topics on TDS provisions related to residents including salaries and interest; FTS, royalties, contractors, commission, rent; issues in obtaining lower or NIL withholding orders; obligations of payer and rights of recipients; TRACES functionalities; issues pertaining to TDS refunds; e-filling of TDS returns, issuance of TDS certificates; recent notifications and circulars and key Budget 2015 amendments.

Government officials and other experts on taxation will deliver speeches in the seminar.

List of participants includes individuals from various economic sectors like officers dealing in taxation, accounts in the corporate and practicing CA, CS, CMA and other related professionals, trade and industry, government, public sector units, consultancy organisations, funding agencies, corporate lawyers, banks and other financial institutions.
