LG Uplus net profit more than triples in Q1

(MENAFN) South Korea's mobile carrier LG Uplus Inc. said its first-quarter net profit more than tripled, driven by an increase in the number of subscribers, Yonhap News reported.

The company's net profit reached USD76.6 million in the January-March period, compared with USD24.91 million registered in the previous year, the company said in a regulatory filing.

However, the figure falls short of the median estimate of USD85.81million. LG Uplus' operating profit rose 36.7 percent to USD143.82 billion, while sales fell 8.1 percent to USD2.41 billion in the period.
