Tata Motors will roll out Nano automatic

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Tata Motors, which had introduced the Nano at Rs100,000, is all set to roll out an automatic version of Nano under the GenX title to woo young buyers.

The production of Tata Nano AMT (automatic manual transmission) has already started at the company's Sanand plant near Ahmedabad - where the Nanos were manufactured - and will be marketed as the smart city four-wheeler by the month-end.

Priced around Rs250,000, the automatic variant, which was showcased at the recent Auto Expo in Delhi, will still be India's cheapest car, claimed a Tata Motors executive in Ahmedabad.

He said that the new gearless Nano was equipped with a Magneti-Marelli unit and could deliver 10 to 15 per cent better fuel efficiency over a conventional automatic transmission.

The Tata Nano AMT boasts new shades, fog lamps, power steering, a 24-litre fuel tank and an openable rear tailgate.
