6 Palestinians detained over attacks on Israeli targets

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Six Palestinians from the central West Bank village of Beit Rima have been arrested by Israeli security forces on suspicions that they had attacked Israeli targets, Israeli radio reported on Monday.

"Members of the cell [the six arrested Palestinians] are suspected of having thrown explosives and Molotov cocktails at a Jewish religious school and the rooftops of houses in the [Jewish-only] Halamish settlement [near Ramallah]," the broadcaster reported.

"They are also suspected of hurling rocks at Israeli cars and plotting to carry out other attacks," it asserted, without giving the date, time or location of the arrests.

Israeli daily the Jerusalem Post quoted Israel's internal Shin Bet security agency as saying that "the six suspects, aged between 19 and 23, carried out five attacks during the two-month period."

The Shin Bet, however, has yet to issue an official statement about the attacks the men were allegedly involved in.
