'Average of 14 divorces on daily basis'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 9: An average of 14 divorces occurs on a daily basis in Kuwait as per statistics issued by Central Statistics Bureau reports Al-Qabas daily. During the inauguration of the campaign on family happiness titled 'Naktamel' Chairperson of Kuwait Society for Ideal Family Sheikha Fariha Al-Ahmad urged the executive and legislative powers to deal with the divorce phenomenon by carrying out studies to find appropriate solutions.

In her speech Sheikha Fariha said that the divorce issue in Kuwait is a serious threat to the family aspect and leads to increasing number of crimes and violence in the society. She stressed the need to establish a Family Court which is a national requirement adding that the 'Naktamel' volunteer campaign is aimed to promote the importance of happy and coherent families.

Meanwhile Treasurer of Kuwait Foundation for the Protection of Family Adnan Al-Mudahaka affirmed that the campaign aims to improve Kuwaiti family affairs. In addition General Supervisor of the campaign Dr Othman Al-Asfour said the purpose of the campaign is to promote the importance of continuity of marital life and the building of a stable family environment through communication and dialogue among the family members as well as activation of family psychology concept for handling problems among couples and families.
