'Driver's attitude key to traffic problems'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 27: The International Traffic Safety Conference was inaugurated in the presence of Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al- Hamad Al-Sabah reports Al- Seyassah daily. In his speech during the inaugural ceremony the minister highlighted the efforts exerted by the ministry in implementing the traffic security aspects in the developmental plan of 2014-2019 with the cooperation of Ministry of Public Works and in coordination with the concerned governmental institutions.

He affirmed that traffic safety is one of the top priorities of the security authorities for which the latter hold traffic awareness campaigns with the support of press media NGOs and national committees. He explained that these campaigns focus on informing road users about traffic etiquette and the fact that the behavior of each individual on the road is the basic and most important factor for solving the traffic problem. Sheikh Mohammad said he will be following up on the activities of the conference and will look forward to the results and recommendations from the conference which will help develop the traffic system that will positively impact all aspects in this regard.

Meanwhile Chairman of Kuwait Traffic Safety Society Bader Al-Mutair said the conference is being held at a time when the entire world is suffering from traffic problems which impact negatively on all human beings. He affirmed that the Kuwait Traffic Safety Society will cooperate with its counterparts in other GCC countries to sign an agreement to unify efforts to tackle the traffic problem in their respective countries. Al-Mutair urged the concerned authorities to provide necessary support for carrying out this GCC project
