Prestigious ADIPEC 2015 Awards Open for Nominations

(MENAFNEditorial) Distinguished Awards Introduce Two New Categories that Recognize Best Practice and Academic Excellence in the Energy Sector

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 27 April 2015 – The prestigious ADIPEC Awards will once again recognize excellence in energy, and is returning this year with two new categories that play a pivotal role in advancing the oil and gas industry – the Best Practice Award, and the Best Dissertation of the Year Award.

The acclaimed awards, which open for nominations on 26 April 2015, celebrate achievement across eight categories, and are considered a highly coveted accomplishment in the energy sector.

The accolades are a highlight of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), one of the world's top three energy events and the global meeting place for professionals and decision makers in the oil and gas industry.

Mr Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, the ADIPEC 2015 Chairman, and Strategy & Coordination Director at ADNOC, said: "ADIPEC is an established leading global energy event, and the ADIPEC Awards carry the same prestige as an objective benchmark for world-class innovation."

"As Abu Dhabi continues to develop into a renowned industry hub, it is inspiring to see increasing award nominations for regional organizations, and this not only proves how committed the region is to advancing the energy sector, but also to doing so while demonstrating best practice."

Last year, the ADIPEC Awards received a record-breaking 390 submissions from more than 100 organizations across 26 countries, marking an increase of 100 submissions when compared with 2013. With two new categories introduced in this year's edition, the awards are set to break records once again.

New to this year's awards is the Best Practice Award, which recognizes the creation and successful implementation of an initiative that offers improvement to an internal business process, structure, or culture, and the Best Dissertation of the Year Award, which recognizes exceptional academic work linked to the oil and gas industry.

Mr Abdul Munim Saif Al Kindy, Chairman, ADIPEC Awards, and Chief Executive Officer, Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), said: "Corporate policies that promote sustainability and efficiency, and research that empowers us with critical knowledge, are key to further developing the energy sector. These two new categories have been introduced to recognize those who have made great strides in both."

"Every year, we see significant progress in the quality of entries, and I am confident that this year will be no different. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals, companies, and students to share their success with the world, and I encourage everyone to participate," Mr Al Kindy added.

The Oil & Gas Woman of the Year Award will recognize a female whose career has progressed at a rapid pace, demonstrating the empowerment process in her company that allowed her to reach her aspirations.

The remaining five categories for 2015 are as follows: Best Oil & Gas Mega Project, Best Oil & Gas Innovation or Technology (Surface or Sub-surface), Best Oil & Gas Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) / Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Project or Initiative, Best Oilfield Services Company (Local, Regional or International), and Young ADIPEC Engineer.

The ADIPEC Awards follows a meticulous judging process upheld by the Regional Select Jury (RSJ), which is comprised of senior professionals from across the oil and gas industry, including National and International Oil Companies, academic institutions, and professional associations. As leaders in their fields, the RSJ members provide a dedicated level of evaluation which narrows the entries to a final selection.

Awards entries will close on 30 July 2015, with the shortlist announced on 12 October 2015. Winners and runners-up will be announced at the ADIPEC Gala Awards Dinner on ADIPEC's opening night, 09 November 2015. ADIPEC will be held from 09-12 November 2015.
