China's industrial profits down 0.4 percent in March

(MENAFN) Official data showed that Profits of Chinese industrial businesses dipped 0.4 percent from a year earlier, reaching USD82.8 billion in March, Xinhua reported.

The decline narrowed sharply from a 4.2-percent slump registered in the January-February period, the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released data showed.

Dragged by the sagging performance in the first two months, China's industrial profits shrank by 2.7 percent in the first quarter to USD204.32 billion, the NBS said.

NBS statistician attributed the improvement in the month of March to lower raw material prices and operating costs, and higher investment returns in industrial businesses.
