JAKARTA—The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stated operators of apartment and flat that take profit from the distribution of electricity must have Electricity Supply Business License (IUPTL).
Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Jarman said operators and developers of apartment or flat were usually taking profit in distributing the electricity to their tenants.
“There should be business zoning and effort to obtain business license at a rate decided by the Governor after obtaining the approval from the House” said Jarman during a Coffee Morning event in his office Thursday (4/23).
Meanwhile operators that forward all the costs associated with the distribution of electricity to their tenants with additional costs for public facilities and social facilities without obtaining profit are not categorized as electricity sales so they do not require the IUPTL.
This should be reaffirmed because tenants are mostly complaining about the distribution of electricity. In fact there is high margin between the sales of electricity from PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and the operators of apartment and flat.
On the other hand Chairman of the Indonesian Housing Tenant Association Mualim Wijoyo said apartment operators never take profit from the distribution of electricity.
Mualim admits there is a margin in electricity price for household and apartment. However the association claims such tariff margin does not mean taking profit.
