'Vital to approve proposal to amend Social Security Law'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 11: Chairman of the Parliament's Financial Affairs Committee MP Faisal Al- Shaye has stressed the importance of approving the proposal to amend the Social Security Law in order to end the difficulties of government employees who were forced into retirement.

The MP explained the amendment obligates the government to pay the total amount of salary allocated by the Public Authority for Social Security for employees who were forced to retire and to issue a court verdict on the reinstatement of these employees.

He said this amendment submitted by a number of MPs is in addition to the government's legislative project on privatizing Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) which centers on transforming KAC into a general joint stock company with the government owning majority of its shares to remain as Kuwait's official national carrier.

On the other hand MP Abdulrahman Al-Jeeran asserted the upcoming stage demands enforcement of supervision rules on the oil sector petroleum associations and affiliate companies considering the violations mentioned in the State Audit Bureau's reports.

He clarified this is a requirement that must be fulfilled in order to ensure smooth operations and progress of the country's development projects as the oil sector is considered Kuwait's 'main artery'.
