Dutch brand opens store in Dubai


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Having opened their first store in Amsterdam in 1886 Hunkemoller has grown into a popular lingerie brand.

Dubai — Hunkemoller Europe’s premium lingerie brand has opened its first store in Dubai at Ibn Battuta mall. The Dutch brand has 600 stores in 16 countries with a strong market base in Europe.

Having opened their first store in Amsterdam in 1886 Hunkemoller has grown into a popular lingerie brand.

“Hunkemoller is evolving from a successful high-street retailer to a global brand. It currently holds top position for lingerie market share in the Netherlands Belgium and Luxembourg and has a brand awareness rating of almost 100 per cent” Sophia Jawad brand manager Hunkemoller told Khaleej Times.

The brand will be exclusively distributed in the Middle East by the Jawad Business Group.

“We are looking at opportunities to open a few more stores in Dubai and in Qatar and Kuwait by the year end” said Jawad.

Hunkemoller has developed a multi-channel strategy for expansion through new stores shop-in-shops e-commerce and international franchising. The brand has been named best lingerie retailer in the Netherlands Belgium Germany and Austria.

Its sales in Netherlands account for 40 per cent while Germany is close behind with a 30 per cent market share.

The brand’s large following has prompted it to widen its reach and diversify into different countries. With stores already set up in Kuwait Bahrain Saudi Arabia and the UAE Hunkemoller is rapidly increasing its presence in the GCC.
