Saudi- Soldier probed for tweeting against Qatif residents
(MENAFN- Arab News) Prince Mohammad bin Salman defense minister and royal court chief has ordered that a soldier should be investigated for tweeting that he was prepared to kill citizens in the Qatif governorate. The minister said that if this is proven to be correct the soldier will be tried in court.
Meanwhile the education minister has ordered the transfer of a female teacher from a school in Makkah to the Al-Jamjoum Educational Office for making disparaging remarks about members of a community.
In the case of the soldier the move to try him met much popular support from different areas in the Kingdom after it was discussed on social media over the last two days. The tweet the soldier made received much negative reaction from Saudis. The teachers' comments also drew widespread criticism.
However the General Educational Administration in the Makkah region said the transfer of the teacher was arbitrary. In a press statement it said a committee was set up to investigate and that it ruled against moving the teacher from her post at the school in Mudrikah.
The General Educational Administration said that the decision was made to keep the teacher where she is by its director general Mohammad Al-Harithi. It was the education administration that first recommended that the teacher be moved.
