(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 25 (KUNA): Kuwait won IIHF Ice Hockey Challenge Cup of Asia after smashing Kyrgyzstan 9-3 in the final match ending the championship with five winning streak. Singapore came second while Kyrgyzstan third. Oman followed Malaysia came fifth and India was in the last position. Kuwait started the game with full determination to win the clash with the team's Abdullah Al-Asousi and Ahmad Al-Ajmi scoring the first two goals in the first quarter.
Mishal Al-Ajmi scored hat-trick and Al-Asousi added a fourth in the second quarter which witnessed two goals by the Kyrgyz team. Kuwait continued domination of the match scording three more goals against one for Kyrgyzstan. Singapore achieved an outstanding victory over Oman beating them 13-3. Fehaid Al-Ajmi head of Kuwait Winter Games Club and chairman of the organizing committee said Kuwait would be able to participate in the World Ice Hockey Championship qualifying. He said today's victory was a result of a three-month preparation period. Jassem Al-Sarraf Kuwait goalkeeper said hard work and dedication contributed to the winning of the championship. Al-Sarraf who was named the tournament best goalkeeper said the two training camps in Sweden boosted the players' skills and endurance thus winning the championship.
