OIC to convene extraordinary ministerial meeting on Yemen

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Following the end of the Operation Decisive Storm, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) decided to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of its member states early next month.

The ministerial, meant to debate "the critical developments on the security and humanitarian fronts in Yemen," will be held at the request of the legitimate leadership of the country, according to a statement issued by the organization on Friday.

The OIC is working to hold the meeting during the first half of the coming month of May, the statement said.

Besides its joint political efforts with all concerned states and parties, the OIC has adopted a humanitarian relief campaign to help the Yemeni people overcome their difficult living conditions, it added.

On Tuesday, the Saudi-led coalition announced the end of the Operation Decisive Storm and the start of the Operation Restoring Hope with a view to speeding up the resumption of the political process based on the UN Security Council Resolution 2216 and the GCC initiative for Yemen.
