(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The United States continues to provide some logistical support to the ongoing Saudi military activities in Yemen, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said on Friday.
Saudi Arabia and its coalition partners noted in their announcement this week that they would conclude Operation Decisive Storm in Yemen "that they might continue limited operations to counter certain ongoing Houthi military movements and actions in Yemen," Earnest said during a briefing.
"The United States continues to believe it is important to shift away from military operations to the rapid, unconditional resumption of all-party negotiations that will allow Yemen to restart an inclusive political transition process," Earnest said "We have said many times that the turmoil in Yemen will not be solved militarily, but is one that must be solved around the negotiating table, and we are going to encourage all parties to be supportive of that process," he said.
While the level of Saudi military activity in Yemen has diminished, it continues in an effort to counter ongoing Houthi military actions, "and there still is US military support that is being provided to back our Saudi partners," he said.
