(MENAFN- The Peninsula) QatarDebate is spreading the art of debating internationally as two of its best debaters train debating teams in other countries.
In preparation for the championship, Yousef Fakhro, one of QatarDebate's outstanding debaters who is in the United States for his studies, has trained five members of Team Utah on the art of debating and dialogue.
Fakhro said that initially the focus of the training programme was to introduce students to QatarDebate Center and the art of debating.
Also, QatarDebate Center has sent one of its distinctive cadres, Ali Al Suwaidi, to the UK to train students from Swansea University in Swansea city to prepare the team that will participate in the championship.
"I graduated from Swansea University two years ago, therefore, it wasn't too hard to set the training sessions," said Al Suwaidi, adding, "The goal of QatarDebate is to focus on perfecting the skills of debating and dialogue and to encourage revival of the Arabic language."
Efforts by QatarDebate to spread the culture of debating do not stop at the borders of Qatar and the Middle East region. It reaches out to the international community to achieve its objectives.
QatarDebate was able to establish contact with university students from around the world with support from Qatar Foundation.
Locally, QatarDebate organises workshops aimed at the various segments of society, including school and university students as well as employees working in state institutions.
