Qatar- Dy PM attends Bandung meet anniversary celebrations


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud participated in a celebration held yesterday to mark the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, which founded the Non-Aligned Movement, and the 10th anniversary of the New African-Asian Strategic Partnership, signed by member states in 2005 in Bandung.

The celebration was held as part of activities of the Africa-Asia Summit 2015 with the participation of a number of leaders, heads of states and heads of delegations participating in the summit.

The leaders marched in the Asia-Africa street, which was given that name in 1955, the year the historic meeting was held to launch the Non-Aligned Movement.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo gave a speech in which he lauded the founding leaders of the movement, which fostered cooperation between Asian and African nations.

The heads of delegations to the summit signed a declaration that underlined the importance of renewal of the Asian-African partnership in the political and economic fields and support for the Palestinian cause.
