Lynch confirmed as US Attorney General
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US Senate voted 56-43 Thursday to confirm Loretta Lynch as the first black female Attorney General. The vote follows months of delay, as Republicans disapproved of Lynch's support for President Barack Obama's immigration reform policies.
Last week Obama urged the Congress to confirm Lynch, stressing "enough is enough," and describing the delay as "embarrassing." In a statement, her predecessor Eric Holder called her "a gifted attorney, a consummate professional, and a dedicated public servant." He added that Lynch "is respected by law enforcement officers, civil rights leaders, and criminal justice officials of all political stripes."
