24 runaway maids caught in raid for illegals


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 23: The Residency Investigation General Department at the Interior Ministry launched a campaign to track down those who have violated the Residency Law resulting in the arrest of 24 Asian housemaids. In a press statement recently the ministry revealed some of those arrested during the campaign have no valid residence documents and others were found to be performing nursing duties even if they are not licensed to do so.

When interrogated the housemaids admitted that they escaped from their sponsors and took refuge in a house in the Capital Governorate. The owner of the house was summoned for questioning. The department reaffirmed its commitment to pursue the outlaws including those practicing certain professions without the necessary qualifications. It also warned those providing shelter to these outlaws that they will be subjected to legal accountability as well.

Indian cheats teacher: Police are looking for an Indian for cheating a Kuwaiti professor of the Kuwait University reports Al-Anba daily. The suspect reportedly took KD 400 from the professor and promised to bring him an Indian housemaid and disappeared with the money.

Child molested: Hawally securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti for molesting a child in South Surra reports Al-Seyassah daily. The arrest happened after another Kuwaiti filed a complaint against the suspect who allegedly molested his son. Initial investigations revealed the accused has been involved in several other cases and he was sentenced to 10 years in jail in a drug-related case. He was arrested in Abdally after a security team was formed to track him down. A case was registered and investigations are ongoing.
